Mission, Vision, and Values

Mission

The CWP operates from a public health model and utilizes prevention and health promotion strategies to empower students to make informed decisions about their personal health and wellbeing.  Our team of multidisciplinary professionals address issues such as alcohol use, drug use, recovery from substance use disorders, sexual health, sexual and relationship violence, and a variety of other wellness topics that affect college students.

Vision

The CWP aspires to empower the University community to develop healthier attitudes and behaviors in order to create a safer, more equitable campus culture.

Values
  • Advocacy. Incorporate students' experience, identities, and input to center their needs in all aspects of our work
  • Autonomy. Believe in students' ability to grow and make a difference in the safety and wellbeing of their community and individual pursuit of health
  • Collaboration. Develop and maintain impactful partnerships and connections with faculty, staff, students, and the greater Charlotte community.
  • Diversity and Inclusion. Dedication to social justice through increased awareness of the effects of oppression, prejudice, and discrimination.
  • Integrity. Take responsibility and initiative to pursue, adhere to, and align the work of the department with our values, despite barriers.
